AIAC EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER

Washington, DC - December 29, 2024 L. M. Levie, Chairman of American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (AIAC), issued the following statement today upon the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter:
"On behalf of the American Industrial Acquisition Corporation and our global network of companies and their employees, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Carter family and to his countless friends and colleagues. In particular, I wish to express my sympathy to my dear friends, Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat and Ambassador Gordon Giffin, who loyally served under President Carter, and who deeply mourn his passing. Ambassador Eizenstat is the author of the definitive biography President Carter: The White House Years. On January 9, 2025, he will deliver a eulogy at the State Funeral for President Carter at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
During his presidency, President Carter exemplified the power of principled leadership, navigating complex challenges with integrity and determination. His relentless efforts to negotiate the Camp David Accords were a landmark achievement in diplomacy, demonstrating his commitment to fostering peace and collaboration in a divided world.
Beyond his years in office, President Carter continued to inspire through his humanitarian work with The Carter Center, promoting health, democracy, and human rights around the globe. His passion for building a better future serves as a beacon for all who strive to create positive change in their communities and industries.

During 2024, AIAC sponsored and arranged a series of eight lectures, luncheons, and dinners in the US and UK featuring Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, who served as Policy Director for Jimmy Carter’s Gubernatorial and Presidential campaigns and then as Chief Domestic Policy Advisor under President Carter. These events were held at Harvard Law School’s Project on Negotiation, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Columbia University School of Professional Studies, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Economic Club of New York, Brandeis University, The Luncheon Society, and Walbrook Club of London.
Following his service to President Carter, Ambassador Eizenstat served under 4 other US Presidents, as Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Under Secretary of State, Ambassador to the European Union, Chief Delegate to the Kyoto Climate Conference, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, and Chairman of the US Holocaust Memorial Council.

About President Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter Jr.) was the 39th President of the United States, serving from January 20, 1977, to January 20, 1981. Born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia, President Carter grew up on a peanut farm, an experience that shaped his values of hard work, faith, and community service. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1946 and served as a naval officer, specializing in submarines, before returning to Georgia to manage his family's agricultural business after his father's death.
President Carter entered politics in the early 1960s, first serving on the Sumter County Board of Education and then in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 to 1967. In 1971, he became the 76th Governor of Georgia, where he championed desegregation, government reform, and modernization of the state’s institutions. His tenure as governor gained national attention for his progressive stances on civil rights and environmental issues.
In 1976, President Carter, as a relatively unknown figure, won the Democratic nomination and went on to defeat incumbent Gerald Ford in the presidential election. His administration focused on human rights, energy policy, and peacebuilding. He brokered the historic Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel in 1978, a cornerstone of his foreign policy legacy. Domestically, his presidency faced challenges such as high inflation, energy crises, and the Iran Hostage Crisis, which overshadowed many of his achievements.
After leaving office, President Carter transformed his post-presidency into one of the most impactful in history. In 1982, he founded the Carter Center, an organization dedicated to advancing peace, democracy, and health worldwide. The center has been instrumental in eradicating diseases like Guinea worm disease, monitoring elections globally, and promoting human rights.
President Carter’s humanitarian efforts earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, recognizing his decades-long commitment to peace and social justice. He is also an accomplished author, having written numerous books on topics ranging from his presidency to faith and poetry.
President Carter was married to Rosalynn Carter, his lifelong partner in both public service and personal life. They are survived by have four children. President Carter remains a symbol of integrity, humility, and dedication to the betterment of humanity.
