Turnaround Management Association recognizing key players in Cleveland

Union Metal Industries Corp. will be honored tonight at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

The Canton steel and aluminum light pole manufacturer, which closed in early 2018, reopened a few months later under new ownership — American Industrial Acquisition Corp. The nonprofit Turnaround Management Association, which serves corporate restructuring professionals, declared it the Small Company Turnaround of the Year.

“It’s a great honor and distinction that is recognized industrywide,” said Scott Stuart, CEO of the association.

Union Metal Industries Corp. joined more than 100 submissions for turnaround and transaction of the year awards. They are separated into categories: international, mega, large, mid-size, small, nonprofit and pro bono.
