September 18, 2024 – Washington, DC    AIAC Chairman L. M. Levie attended the 120th Anniversary Commemorative Gala of the Founding of the University Club of Washington DC.  The black tie celebration consisted of a reception and dinner held at its historic clubhouse on 16th Street, 3 blocks north of the White House.   Following the dinner, Paul D. Clement, Esq., former Solicitor General of the United States from 2005 to 2008, was presented with Honorary Membership in the University Club.  Mr. Clement presently serves as Partner of Clement & Murphy PLLC, a law practice specializing in complex appellate cases.  He has argued more cases before the US Supreme Court than any other attorney since 2000.

As a closing toast for the evening, University Club Member Christopher D’Arcy recited the following commemorative poem, composed by Mr. Levie:

Following the dinner, members retired to the club’s bar and rooftop terrace for further celebration.

AIAC Chairman Levie serves as a member of the University Club of Washington DC Reciprocity Committee.  About the celebration, he commented, “I was profoundly gratified to contribute to the 120th Anniversary Gala for this historic organization.”  He continued, “I congratulate Paul D. Clement for his recognition by the Club as Honorary Member.  It is well known that he is a highly respected legal scholar and gifted advocate, but he is also an extraordinarily good and decent man, a fact to which I can personally attest.”
